Flower Pots Inn & Brewery has successfully hosted its annual beer festival for many years. It is a much-loved, community-focused event with a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, attracting a significant number of local attendees. Our role was not simply to provide security and medical cover, but to do so in a way that complemented the festival’s welcoming and informal character.

Our involvement began well before the first guest arrived. We worked closely with the client during the planning phase to review parking layouts, access and egress routes, and pedestrian flow. We provided recommendations around enhanced lighting for parking areas, improved illumination of walkways, and safer vehicle-to-pedestrian separation to reduce risk during peak arrival and departure periods. To further strengthen safety and wayfinding, we designed and installed premium, highly visible signage to direct guests safely from surrounding roadways into designated parking areas and onward into the event footprint. Throughout the event, our teams actively monitored the car parks to deter theft, prevent vehicle damage, and ensure smooth traffic management.

At events such as this, the tone of security is everything. A visible presence can either feel heavy-handed or reassuring. We consciously adopt a supportive approach, prioritising prevention over reaction and engagement over enforcement. Our SIA-licensed officers were positioned strategically across the site, maintaining a calm but professional presence at primary access and egress points. This supported licensing compliance through ID checks, ticket verification, and monitoring of entry conditions, while also acting as a visible deterrent to inappropriate behaviour. A confident yet approachable presence at entry points sets the tone for the event — guests understand that the festival is professionally managed, without feeling over-policed.

Beyond static positions, our roaming officers focused on proactive interaction with attendees, monitoring alcohol consumption, identifying age-related compliance issues, and addressing emerging concerns before escalation. This preventative model significantly reduces the likelihood of antisocial behaviour, theft, or disorder, helping to preserve the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere the festival is known for.

Our medical team was centrally positioned within the event footprint, operating from a clearly signwritten and easily identifiable treatment area. This ensured guests could quickly locate support if required, while also allowing our clinicians clear visibility of activity across the site. Working in close coordination with security, our medics were proactive in identifying and supporting attendees showing early signs of alcohol-related illness or welfare concerns, enabling early intervention and reducing unnecessary escalation. The team remained ready to respond immediately to any reported incidents.

In addition to clinical care, our medical provision maintained a strong safeguarding focus. The team remained alert to vulnerabilities such as excessive intoxication, welfare concerns, and lost children, providing reassurance to families and organisers alike. The integrated approach between security and medical teams ensured licensing objectives were met, risks were managed proportionately, and the relaxed, community-focused ethos of the event was preserved throughout.
