All the lights, sounds and smells of the funfair came to various locations in Hampshire this year. A popular event with a high natural footfall, we were asked to provide safety services.

Event Type: Giant Travelling Family Fairground
Services: Technician lead medical team and SIA security team
Demographic: Typically families, young adults and children.
Special considerations: Onsite residents, lost children, child safeguarding, vulnerable access points, heavy public access footfall.

What did we provide?

We’ve worked with this particular family fairground for quite some time now and have had the opportunity to build a fantastic working relationship. This is a unique environment, in that we are not only supporting event customers, but we’re supporting the families that travel with, and live at the event. Having people live onsite means that there is property to be protected, and the ongoing healthcare of the families to consider. 

Fairground work is by no means an easy task, grueling work hours, miles of travel, lots of manual handling and often weather challenges too. It’s easy for health to take a back seat when you’re this busy. Our two-man medical team provided an acute service throughout the day for the customers with a sheltered, equipped private medical facility. They also looked after the staff, supporting them with their ongoing healthcare, helping them access prescription services, maintain effective wound care and prevent fatigue.  

Our security team worked alongside the medical team and also had their work cut out. They not only looked after the physical security of the venue, but also carried out routine patrols, aerial video surveillance, bag searches, lost child procedures and general welfare duties. We were closely supported by the local police force at this event and our SIA officers worked hand-in-hand with them, providing daily updates and sharing intelligence to keep the event safe. 

All-in-all we were very pleased to provide this service and look forward to the next event with this client.
